Cape Fear Orthopaedic Clinic golf event raises funds for The CARE Clinic

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (May 25, 2010) – A local nonprofit program is the recipient of funds raised at the Cape Fear Orthopaedic Open, a patient-centered golf event sponsored by Cape Fear Orthopaedic Clinic held May 21 at Bayonet at Puppy Creek in Raeford. The CARE Clinic provides free quality health care to eligible uninsured, low-income adults in Cumberland County.

The physicians and staff at Cape Fear Orthopaedic Clinic held the golf tournament for patients who have returned to an active lifestyle after recovering from an injury. A total of 77 players participated in the event last week, which included patients, physicians and staff, who raised $1,545 that will go to The CARE Clinic to help serve the indigent and uninsured in Cumberland County.

“The CARE Clinic is very important to the entire community. Our event was not just about having fun and celebrating the recoveries of our patients, it was also about helping those less fortunate,” says Dr. James Flanagan, orthopaedic surgeon at Cape Fear Orthopaedic Clinic.

Since 1973, the specialists at Cape Fear Orthopaedic Clinic have provided the highest quality of musculoskeletal care to their patients. The nine expert orthopaedic specialists at two Fayetteville locations offer the largest array of orthopaedic services that extends to the residents of Cumberland County and beyond. Cape Fear Orthopaedic Clinic provides care in the following areas: shoulder and elbow, hand and wrist, hip, knee, foot and ankle, sports medicine, pediatric orthopaedics, osteoporosis and physical and occupationaltherapy.
